CHOOGLIN'

Chooglin' on Myspace

Chooglin' formed in the fall of '05. Their very first show was opening for The Detroit Cobras and The Reigning Sound. They've shared the stage with lots of folks, like King Khan & BBQ, The Dirtbombs, The Black Lips, Jay Reatard, The Black Diamond Heavies, Soledad Brothers, The Buffalo Killers, Birthday Suits, Silver Lions 20/20, oh and so many more!

There first Self Titled record was self released in 2006. It's taken awhile, but in Feb. '09, Minneapolis Label Heart Of A Champion (Har Mar Superstar/Lifter Puller/Mike Gunther/Eleni Mandell/The Evening Rig) released their second record, NICE PLACE. NICE PARTY. NICE FOLKS.---a LIVE RECORD recorded in the legendary 7th St. Entry. Heart Of A Champion is also releasing a forthcoming split 7" with Alabama band, The Dexateens, due out in '09.

Chooglin' also signed a deal with BIG LEGAL MESS/FAT POSSUM RECORDS, and recorded their record SWEET TIME for them in December '08 at Creation Studios in Minneapolis. The studio has a rich history--- recordings by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, The Trashmen's "Surfin' Bird", The Repacements TIM, and many Husker Du records all were had here. The record was produced by Fat Possum's Bruce Watson (head of BLM) and Tom Herbers.

Sweet Time was released in July 2009 with stellar reviews from Hilltop to Oslo. Oyvind Pharo, Norway's preeminent rock critic, wrote a particularly rave review, and by his pen's brute force, Pharo shoehorned Chooglin' into the Down On The Farm festival in Halden, Norway, in August of 2009. There the band played two shows to raucous crowds, and, in so doing, created a swell of Norsk support that continues to tumesce to this day.

May of 2010 promises Chooglin's biggest venue yet: A gig at Norway's Bergenfest, where they'll be sharing festival billing with Lou Reed, Randy Newman, the New York Dolls, Femi Kuti, Don McLean, and many other highly-regarded artists.

And last but most, the summer of 2010 slates many summer Festivals for the band, including Grand Old Day in St. Paul with FREE ENERGY and THE VON BONDIES, PALMFEST and more! Also, a split 7" single with Alabama band The Dexateens, on Heart Of A Champion. The band is also writing songs for their next album, to be recorded by the end of the year. The fall will see the band back on a full scale tour of Europe.
