"The Dark, Delirious Morning" is the title of the forthcoming release from Minneapolis-based songwriter Chris Koza.  His previous full-length albums, 2006's "Patterns" and 2005's "Exit Pesce" have received rave reviews and critical acclaim from Twin Cities writers and music-goers alike; the former garnered a Minnesota Music Award for best pop recording, and the latter was placed among the best local CDs by the Star Tribune, City Pages, and other Twin Cities publications.

Having also released the homemade EP "A Friend of a Friend" in the fall of 2006, Koza is determined to keep pace with the ranks of prolific artists, and "The Dark, Delirious Morning" is filled with ambition, suggesting a departure from the crowded singer/songwriter genre.  The Missoula Independent says the album "ripples with swift, bouncy guitar strumming and plunking piano chords. The result is a 1960's Beatles-esque album with a tinge of alt-country spunkiness. It's often pop-perfect or dark, with Koza bouncing between a warm, sweet tenor and . . . a velvety deep sultriness."  Twin Cities online zine Reveillemag.com previews the album, writing it "clearly shows the band expanding their folky pleasures into more expansive terrain."

Koza is disinclined to sit by idly and watch the world go by, opting instead to hop in a van and watch it from the windshield with the current tour-mates: drummer Luke Anderson (Haley Bonar), keyboardist Joey Kantor, bassist Linnea Mohn (Coach Said Not To, Skirt), and guitarist Peter Sieve.  The 30-day West coast tour will bring the band back around to Minneapolis just in time for a proper release of "The Dark, Delirious Morning."

Joining Chris Koza & his band at First Avenue on June 7th is the high-energy modern-rock band This World Fair, the wildly adventurous local Princess Records prog-pop outfit These Modern Socks and the spine-tingling gypsy folk of The Parlour Suite.  Other artists to be announced.

Niceties from the press:

"Refreshing, upbeat indie-rock the way it's supposed to be."
-- CITY PAGES; Minneapolis, MN

"Crisp songwriting"
-- THE MISSOULA INDEPENDENT; Missoula, MT

"Obscure and poetic but nonetheless (an) accessible and melodic songwriting talent."
-- STAR TRIBUE; Minneapolis, MN

"Artists like Elliot Smith, Iron & Wine, M. Ward, Bright Eyes, and Nick Drake stand above other songwriters because their songs are born of genuine passion and joy.  If Koza continues writing songs like these, his name will be bandied about in that company."
-- MUSIC LIBERATION PROJECT; Portland, OR

"The great insightful lyrics are Dylanesque or even Lennonesque and grab you by your Blowin' in the Wind imaginative dreams."
-- THE NORTHLAND READER; Duluth, MN

"Koza's music is trend-evading, ambiguous to a place in time in a Nick Drake sort of way."
-- VOLUME ONE; Eau Claire, WI
